3 Bedroom House in Strathmere
Strathmere is amazing and the last place on the shore with a quiet laid back beach scene with great neighbors, spacious beaches and a chill attitude. If you're looking for the super nice brand new squeaky clean sterile beach house stacked on top of another overcrowded condo (more focused on AC and amenities), I don't think you should rent this house. People become upset when they realize that my place is an old beach cottage with a great deck and backyard and a minute walk to the beach.
The space
This is an older rustic home with all the basic amenities: dishwasher, clothes line, surf rack, fishing pole hangers, gas grill, beer cooly things, rusty bikes, busted up boogey boards, Star Wars figures buried upside down in the yard with their feet dangling out to catch the lawnmower or whatever. There is a washer and dryer and probably an iron around if you're into that sort of thing. I also grow this massive sunflower garden every summer - there are around 30 sunflowers that grow 10-12 feet tall...gets kind of ridiculous. My number 4 son and I also grow and tend a garden where you can pick whatever you want. It’s pretty awesome actually. He and I love growing stuff.

A lockbox hanging from the front door can get you in. Check in and out time is often flexible. Parking can get rough on the holiday weekends and on the weekends in general. It’s the shore in the summer - what can one do, right? It can be daunting sometimes, but overall it's manageable and way better than the crappy nearby towns - because Strathmere is the best. When you arrive feel free to double park in the street and unload. You may have to drive around a bit - just be careful as the nouveau riche achieved an immature parking ordinance passed throughout the township and now have painted lines for no parking and a towing company to tow your car, which I think is juvenile and sad.
Other things to note
Septic! Septic! Septic! Everything in Strathmere is on septic so please nothing in the toilet that should not go in toilet…such as used rubber items or discarded feminine hygiene products, or in my case, Star Wars figurines with missing legs!
Please take some time to review the Strathmere Improvement Association website. Happenings in the town are announced on the site as well as information about some of the environmental challenges facing the community. The Strathmere Fishing and Environmental Club is another great resource to learn about the turtles, birds, seals and other wildlife on the island and how modest changes in our behavior may have positive impacts on our animal neighbors.
I leave behind my beach chairs, umbrellas, beach toys and all that stuff for the guests to enjoy. The kids will find scooters and skateboards , small bikes and kites and other things to play with and lose in the sand. I have two adult bikes there now and am working on fixing the other as some dude hit my bike with his trailer at the boat launch...we'll see how that goes. I do request bringing your own sheets and towels as I don't have any real capability of washing them in between guests. I mean if you get in a jam leave some extra bucks for the cleaner and let me know...she'd probably take care of it or wash and dry before leaving.
