This is a recently built cottage located on 15 private, wooded acres of land on the border of Bennington and North Bennington in Southwest Vermont. Designed and constructed by the owner, care has gone into every detail of this beautiful and peaceful location. The property is quiet and secluded, but close to all of the local activities and attractions. The cottage sits on a private 1.5 acre pond with diverse wildlife, wetlands, waterfall and covered bridge. Open floor plan with a loft bedroom that overlooks the lake. It can accommodate an additional two guests with a downstairs sleeper sofa. Our home is about 200 yards away, across the pond and stream, but blocked from view most of the year by foliage.
We are located within 30 minutes of multiple regional attractions which include Williams College, Williamstown/North Adams museums, Manchester Center, the Green Mountains and Woodford State Park, and historic sites within Bennington itself. We are walking distance from grocery and Bennington College, and less than 3 miles from village shops and the Bennington Monument. It is also a short drive to several local ski and summer-sports resorts.
The cottage offers every modern amenity - a full kitchen, outdoor grill, cable, WiFi, living/dining area and large porch. Stairs lead to a second floor loft-style bedroom which overlooks the first floor and lake via a large picture window (note that the bathroom is downstairs). This was designed as a luxury accommodation for a romantic weekend getaway, but could easily accommodate up to four with use of a sleeper sofa. There is simply no other vacation home of this quality and character in Southern Vermont.
