This recently renovated farmhouse with the white picket fence in front is designed to blend with the one acre garden outside. There is access to the property from two sides and plenty of room for parking. The birds will sing and you can watch the squirrels and rabbits in the yard. The house has over thirty windows that can be opened for a summer breeze. The screened in porch at the back of the house is one of my favorite places to have tea or to read. The Nature Conservancy has a large tract of land across the street and if you like taking a stroll you can walk along the side of the property and then pass many small charming individual homes. The property is conveniently located one and a half miles from the center of Huntington Village with shops, restaurants, bars and theaters including the Paramount Theater. Many of the restaurants in the area are located on the water for year round dining with a view whether you choose to arrive either by automobile or by boat. The Huntington and Coldspring Harbor train stations are close by for convenient one hour travel to Manhattan Penn Station or the Barclay Center and charming walking areas such as Smith street and Boerum Hill in Brooklyn in New York City. It is an hour drive to Westhampton, the gateway to the Hamptons. There are many other small towns and public beaches along the north shore of Long Island and popular ocean beaches stretch along the south shore of Long Island, including the famous Jones Beach which is a half hour drive away. There are several Gold Coast mansions that are open to the public including Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay and the Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport and Oheka Castle in West Hills all of which are a pleasant drive from the house. President Teddy Roosevelt's home is open to the public in Oyster Bay. The Del Vino Vineyard which is the first vineyard on the Long Island North Shore wine trail is two villages away in Northport. I have tried to equip the house for a business traveler as well as someone with leisure time with a pleasant alcove that for use as an office and antiques and one of a kind objects. As the owner I will do my best to make your stay enjoyable in your home away from home.
