The space
This listing encompasses both units. If renting through this listing only, there is fenced dog lot between the house and garage. Dogs may be kept outside. No pets are allowed in the house.
The main house (custom built Adirondack style cabin with all wood ceilings and walls) has 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The top floor is a master suite (king bed, wood fireplace, lake views, walk-in closet, 4 piece bath with jacuzzi corner tub). The main floor has kitchen, dining room with deck and lake views, living room with wood fireplace and lake views, queen bedroom with en suite bathroom, small laundry room with 1/2 bath, the basement is a walk out with lake views from the family room and another king bedroom. There is a small bonus room with a daybed and trundle. There is another full bathroom.
The walk out basement has outdoor furniture in warm months and wood for fire places on cold months. There is also central air conditioning and propane heating. There are no steps need to a gentle slope to the lake. By the dock, there is a fire pit and chairs, horse shoe pit, and a swing. Many fish have been caught right off the deck. The lake is shallow on this end, so it is easy to launch you kayak, canoe or paddle board right from the dock! Ice fishing is also popular on this lake in the winter.
The back entrance connects to the garage apartment by a covered walkway. There is outdoor dining dining furniture, a grill, and other surprise amenities)! The house has an audio system that will even transmit to the speakers on the porch.
The studio apartment has it's own lock out code. It is accessed by a door on the side of the garage and a flight of stairs. The studio has it's own heating and cooling system. A full kitchen (minus dishwasher). There are 2 queen size beds and a full bathroom. There is a TV and gas fireplace. There is also a sofa, recliner, and small dining table with 4 chairs.
We have a large shed behind the garage and a garden. There is a large area for parking many cars, boats, snowmobiles, bikes, etc. There is a trail starting near the garden that winds through the 30+ acres. In winter it is frozen over, but in summer there are swampy areas, so if you are going to hike bring those shoes you are ok with getting dirty/wet (cool view point at the end of the trail that is at the tip of the peninsula jutting out into Upper Vermillion Lake).
Remember, this is a rural area. There have been bears, fox, deer, turkey, raccoons, squires, chipmunks, etc roaming the area from time to time. On that note, the house sets nestled in the woods. We are constantly cleaning but there will be cob webs and leaves and such that accumulate in the outdoor spaces. Every time we have a big thunderstorm, all those screens get plastered with debris.
The cabin is at the end of a dead end street. There is little traffic and a safe neighborhood. Neighbors are often riding their bikes or walking dogs so get out and stretch your legs too!
Guest access
The only spaces with limited access have keypad locks (our shed for storage, and some closets in the house where we have cleaning supplies, hot water heater, breaker boxes, etc). So if it's not locked, it's accessible.
Other things to note
Literally the best of both Worlds, you have the lovely views of water with all its activities and stunning sunsets on the lake, and then you have the serenity of the woods with abundant wildlife waiting on you to spot. Life just doesn't get anymore peaceful than at this wonderful lakeshore home.
We are only 10 minutes from the main street of Cumberland with great little stores and fantastic dining options.
