Built between 1891 and 1907, Fort McKinley was once used to defend Portland Harbor during the Spanish-American War. Formerly army barracks, the Inn, opened in 2015, has been restored with meticulous attention to historic detail preserving its original character.
The Inn at Diamond Cove offers elegantly appointed interiors, luxury condominiums with balconies, wide wooden porches, swimming pool, cabana bar and casual fine dining at Diamonds Edge, its waterfront restaurant overlooking Casco Bay.

A collection of very spacious living spaces with bedrooms located one level above or below the living room. Luxury Condos include a spacious kitchen with a range, an island table with seating, and dishwasher.
All Luxury Condos feature custom-made guest room furnishings, hardwood floors, fireplace and our custom made signature pillow-topped mattresses. Luxury bathrooms offer a spacious granite-top vanity, make-up mirror, and glass enclosed showers.

Diamond Cove is a car-free community, which is part of what makes it so special. Parking in Portland is the sole responsibility of the guest. Guests must arrive on the Diamond Cove Dock via Ferry or Water Taxi. This is part of the magical experience of entering the Island State of Mind.

FERRY
Another method of transportation is the Ferry service, provided by Casco Bay Lines. The ferry terminal is located at the Maine State Pier, 56 Commercial Street, Portland, ME. While we are located on Great Diamond Island, please ensure you are purchasing tickets to the Diamond Cove Dock. The most updated schedule is on the Casco Bay Lines website.
